Common Job Title: Social Media Coordinator



Standard shift hours/Hrs. per week: 20 Hours/week 

Hiring Range: $17.01/hr.- $ 19.66/hr.


Essential Functions:

  • This position assists the digital external and internal marketing of the agency.
  • Performing the following will involve a solid knowledge of best practices for social media content development.

Web Recruitment and Marketing

  • Under the direction of the Director of Communications & Marketing, develop outreach plans for targeted audiences across all programs offered at Boys & Girls Aid with a focus in donor and volunteer promotion.
  • Implement approved social media plans across multiple platforms and market to key audiences.
  • Contribute to the creation of strong social media strategy to key audiences.
  • Contribute to the creation and posting of content for social media outlets for outreach and educational purposes.
  • Identify, research, and stay current on social media practices and strategies.
  • Track all social media campaign results. This could include tracking in databases, running reports and any additional tracking efforts as needed.


  • Work with Director of Communications & Marketing on social media content and reporting.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required; flexible schedule may necessitate evenings and weekends

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

Must be able to provide appropriate services, communication, follow up, presentations and to interact appropriately, including relationship building, with people from diverse socio-economic, ideological background, racial, ethnic, and other cultural groups, in a responsive and sensitive manner, considering their needs and impact of the interaction.

  • Job Knowledge: Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or relevant field from a four-year college or university, and minimum one year relevant experience which may include social media, marketing, public relations, sales, human or social services or business. Internships and/or volunteer work will be considered. Knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures related to the position including: strong communications background with demonstrated understanding of the development and implementation of social media strategies and/or community management; ability to learn program specific terminology for use in efforts; knowledge of when and how to use various channels of communication; demonstrated understanding of branding and positioning strategies for the Agency. Level 4
  • Supervising: No supervisory or lead responsibilities. Responsible and accountable for managing individual schedule. Level 1
  • Decision Making: Some decision-making, problem-solving, and/or recommendations within scope of position and responsibilities. This position will be working with sensitive and confidential information while developing stories for social media. Their decisions will affect the team and the agency. Level 4
  • Interpersonal Skills: Regularly and effectively interacts and communicates with a broad range of audiences digitally. Initiative, persistence and perseverance are required in recruitment activities. Collaboration and cooperation are essential in this position. Communication and interpersonal skills are critical to the success of the position and must be highly refined. Level 4
  • Impact: Influences agency image positively or negatively by results of personal work digitally across social media. Level 4

Additional Skills & Abilities:

  • Must attend agency events as requested.
  • Must be conversant with agency programs and services.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills; must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Must have experience in Microsoft Office and related database computer proficiency.
  • Must be able to work effectively with committees and community organizations.
  • Must be able to work well with a team and contribute equally.
  • Must be able to work well independently with limited daily direction from supervisor or program staff.

Additional Requirements/Preferences, including Licenses and/or Certifications:


  • Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence (Oregon or Washington), personal automobile liability insurance, and pass a DMV driving record check.
  • Must meet the driving requirements under the Agency Safe Driving Policy, and maintain a good driving record that is eligible for coverage by the agency's current insurance provider.
  • Must successfully pass the Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background check and, if applicable, fingerprinting.
  • Must be able to pass the pre-employment reference checks.
  • Must be able to provide a copy of his/her own social security card for W-4 documentation.
  • Must be able to provide applicable documentation(s) for I-9 in order to establish identity and authorization to work in the US.


  • Experience with social media efforts within non-profit organizations or for-profit companies.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Level 1

  • Communicates with others in person, electronically, or over the phone on a consistent basis.
  • Must adhere to the Advancement team dress code policy.
  • Standing, walking, and sitting at a computer on a frequent basis.
  • Able to carry materials and set up displays up to 20 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Works in a cubicle where noise may be present and privacy limited.
  • Will work night or weekend hours on occasion based on scheduled events, and work schedule will vary according to program and community needs.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and a clean, organized work space.
